Long Description:
In this class, we’ll be working with green, aqua, blue, and violet to hand paint a skein of yarn in a cool swirl of deepwater hues reminiscent of the hidden depths of the merfolk. You’ll learn about the amazing history and qualities of Bluefaced Leicester sheep and wool, experience the science behind the heat/acid dying process used to color animal fibers, and leave with a 100 g. skein of Bluefaced Leicester/Silk/Cashmere blend yarn (fingering weight; 438 yds/400,5 m) that you dyed with your very own hands! (All materials, supplies, and safety equipment will be provided by the instructor. Please note: We will be working with active dyes, so please do be mindful of your clothing. Dark-colored, cotton clothing is recommended. The instructor is not responsible for stains, you’ve been properly warned.)
