Long Description:
The original information literacy card game celebrates its 6-year anniversary! Created by librarians for librarians to replace lectures with active learning and make database instruction fun. Now with 600+ copies of the game sold to over 200 libraries on five continents it’s time to review and reflect on the project. This session will include an overview of the game’s collaborative design process and its growth in popularity through the community of instruction librarians. The creators will share how they are tracking the game’s progress and use, and best practices for teaching with Search&Destroy. Future developments for the game and the design duo’s other projects for game-based learning on high-impact, cutting-edge topics will also be shared. Attendees will have a chance to play Search&Destroy, so attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet.
