Long Description:
Victor Raymond PhD teaches a hands-on workshop about worldbuilding and societies in speculative fiction and gaming, and why social forces are vital to consider when building a background for your novel or game setting. Participants will have the chance to collectively develop a fantasy background, showing how social forces such as economics, history, language, culture, and politics all interact to provide depth, making that background come alive for readers and players. Drawing on concepts such as the unreliable narrator, the victorious perspective, queer readings, and subversive alternate narratives, participants will learn how to productively complicate things, building space for further development of any fantasy world. Some materials will be provided. Featuring: Victor Raymond PhD — #gcws #classroom #worldbuilding
