Long Description:
Kurt Vonnegut designed a board game in the late 1950's, at the start of his writing career, to help bring in some extra income (a very bad plan). He pitched it to several publishers but no one picked it up, so he just went back to writing. The game was a two player abstract war game called "GHQ". Working with Indiana University, game educator Geoff Engelstein located his design notes and in conjunction with the Vonnegut family will be publishing it for the first time. This event will start with the history of the game, how it was developed, and his attempts to publish it. Attendees will then have an opportunity to play the game.
